Labony Puja Committee 2010

Come Autumn, and its Festive Time !!!
Like the previous years, this year also Labony Estate Puja Committee takes the pleasure in organizing the Durga Puja at the Central Place of Labony Estate for the 36th year. Needless to say, it is one of the oldest Puja of Salt Lake which has been highly acclaimed by media and mass at large over the years. The essence of Labony Puja - The Dhakis, have being widely acknowledged and is also referred as “Dhaker Bole Shiuli Phote” by eminent media houses. Our prime attraction the “Dhaki Naach” has also bagged the highest honors in the various competitions over the past years.
This year our temple is in the form of ‘Shivlinga.’ With that thought in mind, this year we are emphasizing on the theme of ‘Mahakaal’ which symbolizes ‘Lord Shiva’. Inside the temple the walls have been carved with different incarnations of Devi Mahamaya,  viz Bhagawati, Kali, Bhadra Kali, Kapalini, Shiva, Kshamadhatri, Vaishnavi, Barahi, Nrishinghi, Indrani, Chamunda, Kattyaini etc. Mahakaal also refers to eternity. In our religious texts we often find that Shiva and Shakti  unitedly fight against the evil powers and bring peace to the mankind.
It is from time immemorial, mankind has been worshipping Mahamaya, the eternal power. This year Devi Durga is in the form of Devi Nrishinghi. At the entrance of the temple Lord Nrishighi Dev, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu is guarding the mankind from the evil powers and standing as the soul savior of mankind. Devi Durga is of Ashta Dhatu, referring to the Ashto Shakti.
The theme has been brought into life by our artist Sri Malay Das. He has used plywood, bamboo, wood, plaster of Paris, paints etc, to impart life into his imagination.
It is our prayer that evil be uprooted from our lives and fulfills all our dreams. We pray to almighty to enlighten our lives…..
